Jill in Japan

Springtime Charm

Yesterday when I woke up the morning air was calm and crisp and basically the perfect temperature to go on a run. Recently I’ve been doing weightlifting and a bit of cardio at the gym, so it’s been over a month since I’ve run. I went down some streets parallel to my usual route, and found not only a surprisingly nice beach, but some beautiful cherry blossoms. I went back later with my camera while my blankets were in the coin laundry shop.

See? This is a pretty nice beach considering most of the shoreline in this area is lined with concrete tetrapods.

This park area is behind a temple called Kannon-ji. During my morning run it was deserted, but when I returned around noon there were some other people enjoying the cherry blossoms. One old man even cracked open a beer for solo hanami (cherry blossom viewing).
